A permanent opportunity for a Mechanical Design / Project Engineer to join an established engineering organisation.
This is a complete project-lifecycle position covering 3D CAD design, shop-floor assembly support, testing, system setup, and client technical support.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare 3D models, layout drawings, and detailed manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
- Manage mechanical aspects of projects from initial concept through build, testing, and delivery.
- Work closely with electrical, software, and build teams to resolve technical queries and refine equipment builds.
- Assist build teams during assembly, mechanical testing, and system integration.
- Provide technical input for client proposals, attend project meetings, and support on-site setups as required.
- Produce technical files, operating manuals, and parts lists in line with ISO quality and safety standards.
Requirements
- Background in designing mechanical assemblies, dynamic fixtures, motion systems, or custom electro-mechanical equipment.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and CAD data management (PDM) systems.
- Practical understanding of integrating mechanical components with electrical sensors, actuators, and pneumatic systems.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) preferred. Candidates with an HND/ND and relevant design experience will also be considered.
Package & Benefits
- Salary: £38,000 – £45,000 per annum (dependent on experience).
- Holiday: 26 days annual leave + Bank Holidays (rising with service).
- Hours: 37.5 hours per week (includes early Friday finish).
- Pension: Standard company pension scheme.
