A leading international engineering and construction contractor is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join a major data centre project in Eemshaven. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a fast-paced, mission-critical environment, delivering high-quality engineering solutions on a flagship project.
The ideal candidate will be driven, detail-oriented, and focused on delivering best-in-class mechanical systems across complex construction projects. Experience in data centres is advantageous, though candidates from other high-tech or regulated environments will also be considered.
Responsibilities
• Support the delivery of mechanical systems across the project, ensuring works are completed safely, on time, and to specification
• Coordinate with project teams, subcontractors, and other disciplines to ensure seamless integration of services
• Assist in managing site safety in collaboration with the project team and safety advisors
• Oversee mechanical Quality Assurance (QA) activities, including documentation, inspections, and close-out
• Monitor project progress and contribute to planning, scheduling, and reporting activities
• Supervise subcontractor works, tracking progress against programme and manpower targets
• Maintain snagging and punch list systems, ensuring timely resolution of issues
• Attend and contribute to project meetings including coordination, planning, and review sessions
• Support commissioning, testing, and handover of mechanical systems
• Assist with project close-out activities including O&M manuals, final documentation, and QA files
• Track and report on risks, delays, and technical challenges to the project team
• Ensure all documentation is up to date and properly maintained
Requirements
• Relevant mechanical trade or engineering background supported by a third-level qualification
• Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in a Mechanical Engineer role on construction projects
• Experience working on data centres, mission-critical, or high-tech industrial projects is beneficial
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, QA processes, and site coordination
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with AutoCAD and MS Project
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Willingness to be based on-site (EU work eligibility required)
