An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Engineer to join an established MEP contractor delivering major engineering and infrastructure works as part of the HS2 programme in West London.
The successful candidate will work as part of the project delivery team, providing mechanical engineering support across a technically complex and high-profile infrastructure project. The role will be primarily focused on the delivery and coordination of mechanical works associated with ventilation shafts, working closely with project management, design teams, subcontractors and other engineering disciplines.
About the Role
The Mechanical Engineer will support the delivery and coordination of mechanical installation packages throughout the project lifecycle, with a particular focus on ventilation shaft works. The successful candidate will ensure works are delivered in line with design, programme, quality and health & safety requirements.
Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of mechanical packages across the HS2 project.
- Primarily oversee and support mechanical works associated with ventilation shafts.
- Review mechanical drawings, specifications and technical information.
- Coordinate mechanical works with other engineering disciplines and project teams.
- Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, designers and site management.
- Monitor installation progress, quality and compliance.
- Assist with technical queries, RFIs and design coordination.
- Identify and resolve technical issues on site.
- Support testing, commissioning and handover activities.
- Ensure works are delivered in accordance with relevant standards and project requirements.
- Maintain strong health & safety and quality standards throughout delivery.
Requirements
- Experience working as a Mechanical Engineer within construction, MEP or infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of mechanical building services and installation.
- Experience working from technical drawings and specifications.
- Previous experience on large-scale infrastructure or major projects is advantageous.
- Experience with ventilation systems, shafts or associated mechanical installation would be highly beneficial.
- Strong communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary project environment.
- Relevant engineering qualification or equivalent experience.
- Appropriate CSCS/site-based certification.
