Kingston Barnes are seeking an experienced mechanical maintenance professional with strong leadership skills and a proven track record in managing industrial maintenance activities on behalf of our client in the energy from waste industry.
About the Role
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for managing mechanical maintenance activities at the facility, ensuring safe, reliable and efficient plant operation. Working alongside the Electrical and C&I teams, the role focuses on maximising asset availability, maintaining compliance, and delivering effective maintenance planning, execution. You will have 2 direct lead mechanical reports and oversee a wider team of 8 engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate and oversee planned and reactive mechanical maintenance activities to maximise plant reliability and performance.
- Manage maintenance schedules, statutory inspections and the maintenance management system to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
- Lead the safe execution of maintenance work, ensuring compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation and company procedures.
- Manage site stores, the mechanical workshop and key maintenance contractors to deliver high-quality, cost-effective support.
- Lead, coach and develop the maintenance team through effective communication, performance management and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with the site leadership team to drive operational excellence, improve asset availability and achieve business objectives.
About You
- Qualified mechanical engineering professional with experience in industrial maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical repairs, statutory compliance, PSSR and safe systems of work.
- Experience managing maintenance teams, contractors and performance KPIs.
- Confident using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lead, motivate and develop teams while driving continuous improvement.
