This Multi-skilled / Electrical Engineer role is responsible for maintaining and improving the reliability of industrial plant and process equipment through planned maintenance and rapid fault resolution. You'll work on a variety of electrical and mechanical systems while supporting continuous improvement, safety and operational performance.

Description
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of mechanical equipment.
- Assist in the design and implementation of process improvements.
- Support the installation and commissioning of new machinery.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards during all tasks.
- Collaborate with colleagues to optimise production efficiency.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities.
- Provide technical advice and support to other departments as needed.
Monitor equipment performance and recommend upgrades or replacements.Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on conveyors, screens, balers, compactors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings and hydraulic systems.
Diagnose faults and complete repairs to minimise downtime and improve plant reliability.
Support breakdown recovery and ensure equipment is returned to service safely.
Conduct inspections, lubrication, adjustments and mechanical improvements.
Accurately record maintenance activities using the CAM'S system.
Follow all health & safety procedures including lock-off, isolation and permit-to-work systems.
Assist with shutdowns, overhauls, installations and continuous improvement projects.
Work closely with Operations and Engineering teams to maintain high plant performance.
Identify repeat failures and contribute to root cause analysis and reliability improvements.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping and engineering standards across the site.
Profile
A successful Mechanical Engineer should have:
- Mechanical apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC or equivalent qualification.
- Experience working within manufacturing, recycling, waste, production or heavy industrial environments.
- Strong knowledge of conveyors, gearboxes, bearings, hydraulics, pneumatic and mechanical maintenance practices.
- Proven fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience carrying out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs.
- Understanding of health & safety procedures and safe systems of work.
- Experience using CMMS systems is advantageous.
- Welding, fabrication or reliability improvement experience would be beneficial.
Job Offer
Competitive salary of £38,000 - £48,000 depending on experience.
