Are you a Mechanical Engineer or Manufacturing Engineer looking to develop your career in a technically challenging, hands-on engineering environment?
We are recruiting for an established, highly respected engineering organisation operating within the aerospace and precision manufacturing sector.
This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic Engineer with a background in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Process Engineering who enjoys problem-solving, working closely with production teams and improving how products are manufactured and tested.
Working within a collaborative engineering team, you will support the assembly, testing and continuous improvement of complex electro-hydraulic products used in demanding aerospace applications.
You don't need to be a hydraulics expert! We're looking for someone with strong engineering fundamentals, an analytical mindset and a genuine interest in understanding how things work and how they can be improved.
The position offers excellent technical exposure, structured development and the opportunity to build a long-term career within a specialist engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
Support manufacturing, assembly and testing processes for complex mechanical and electro-hydraulic products.
Work closely with production operators, technicians and engineering teams to understand existing processes and identify improvements.
Investigate manufacturing and testing issues, identifying root causes and implementing practical solutions.
Analyse production and test data to improve product quality, reliability and manufacturing efficiency.
Develop and optimise manufacturing processes to improve yield, reduce costs and minimise product failures.
Create, review and update assembly instructions, production worksheets and technical documentation.
Support troubleshooting activities involving mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and test equipment systems.
Assist with continuous improvement projects and the introduction of new processes.
Contribute to engineering investigations, corrective actions and preventative measures.
Work collaboratively with design, manufacturing, quality and production engineering teams.
What We're Looking For
Essential Requirements
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a closely related discipline, ideally 2:1 or above, or equivalent relevant engineering experience.
Some practical experience within mechanical engineering, manufacturing, production or process engineering, ideally 1–2 years. Applications from graduates with relevant industrial placements will also be considered.
Good understanding of mechanical engineering principles, ideally including some exposure to hydraulic systems.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Good communication skills and the confidence to work closely with shop-floor teams.
A proactive, inquisitive approach with a genuine interest in process improvement.
Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
Desirable Experience
Experience within precision manufacturing, aerospace, automotive or another highly engineered manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of hydraulic systems, valves, actuators or fluid power.
Experience supporting assembly, manufacturing or product testing activities.
Exposure to manufacturing process improvements, root cause analysis or continuous improvement methodologies.
Familiarity with PFMEA, Control Plans or Process Flow Diagrams.
Experience producing or updating manufacturing instructions and technical documentation.
Basic understanding of electrical systems or test equipment.
What Makes This Role Different?
This isn't a purely desk-based engineering position.
You'll spend time working directly with products, operators and technicians, understanding manufacturing challenges first-hand and helping to develop practical engineering solutions.
You'll have the opportunity to gain experience across mechanical engineering, hydraulics, manufacturing processes, product testing and continuous improvement.
It's an ideal opportunity for an Engineer who enjoys the practical side of engineering and wants to develop a broad technical skill set.
What's on Offer?
Competitive salary dependent on experience.
Excellent opportunities for technical training and career progression.
Generous annual leave entitlement.
Private medical insurance and wellbeing support.
Competitive pension scheme and life assurance.
Employee share options.
Onsite parking.
Supportive, collaborative engineering environment.
Opportunity to work with advanced, safety-critical aerospace technology.
