SPS Works Ltd is an established mechanical engineering and maintenance company specialising in industrial, port and heavy engineering environments.
We provide mechanical maintenance, hydraulic and pneumatic services, fabrication, structural repairs and specialist engineering support to major industrial and port operators.
Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team.
The Role
This is a hands-on engineering position working across a variety of industrial sites and equipment. The successful candidate will carry out planned and reactive maintenance, fault-finding, repairs, servicing and installation of mechanical equipment.
The role will suit an experienced engineer who is confident working independently, has strong mechanical fault-finding skills and is comfortable working in demanding industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative and reactive mechanical maintenance.
- Diagnose mechanical faults and identify suitable repair solutions.
- Fault-find and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Carry out mechanical repairs, servicing and component replacement.
- Install, maintain and repair industrial machinery and equipment.
- Work on cranes, conveyors, batching plants and material handling equipment.
- Work with gearboxes, motors, mechanical drives and associated equipment.
- Carry out inspections and identify potential mechanical defects.
- Undertake fabrication and basic mechanical modification work where required.
- Complete maintenance records, reports and relevant documentation.
- Work safely in accordance with company procedures, RAMS and site requirements.
- Liaise with customers, site management and other engineers.
- Travel to customer sites as required.
- Work independently or as part of an engineering team.
- Work additional hours when required to meet customer requirements.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 5 years' experience as a Mechanical Engineer or Mechanical Maintenance Engineer.
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Good working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Experience working with industrial machinery and mechanical equipment.
- Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings.
- Good understanding of health and safety requirements.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to customer sites.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Desirable Experience
Experience within ports, construction, manufacturing, quarrying, concrete, heavy industry or similar environments would be advantageous.
Knowledge of LOLER and PUWER, together with fabrication, welding or relevant engineering qualifications, would also be beneficial.
