Mechanical Engineer

Location: One Knightsbridge Green, London

Salary: £44,000 – £45,000

Hours: Monday – Friday, 07:00–16:00 / 09:00–18:00 on a weekly rotating shift

Callout: 1 week in 3, with £100 weekly callout allowance

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and reliable Mechanical Engineer to join their site-based engineering team at a prestigious commercial building in Knightsbridge. The role will involve carrying out planned and reactive mechanical maintenance, ensuring all building services and equipment remain operational, safe and compliant.

This is a hands-on engineering position suited to an experienced Mechanical Engineer with a strong maintenance background and the ability to diagnose and resolve faults effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative and reactive mechanical maintenance across the site.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults and breakdowns in a timely manner.
• Maintain and service a range of building mechanical systems and equipment.
• Respond to reactive maintenance requests and minimise equipment downtime.
• Carry out inspections and routine checks to ensure plant and equipment remain safe and operational.
• Complete maintenance records, job sheets and relevant site documentation accurately.
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with relevant health and safety procedures.
• Work closely with the wider engineering team, contractors and site management.
• Support the smooth day-to-day operation of the building's mechanical services.
• Participate in the site's callout rota, approximately 1 week in 3.

Qualifications / Experience

• Recognised Mechanical Engineering qualification or relevant engineering background.
• Previous experience working as a Mechanical Engineer within a commercial building services environment.
• Strong experience in planned and reactive mechanical maintenance.
• Good fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a wider engineering team.
• Good understanding of Health & Safety and safe working practices.
• Experience working within a high-end commercial or landmark building environment would be advantageous.
