Mechanical Estimator

Location: Flexible
Salary: Up to £60,000 + £5,000 Car Allowance
Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
Contract: Permanent

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join a well-established and rapidly growing M&E contractor specialising in commercial fit-out, retail, refurbishment and installation projects across the UK.
Operating nationwide, the business delivers complete mechanical and electrical solutions from concept through to completion, working with some of the UK's best-known commercial and retail clients. Due to continued growth, they are looking to strengthen their pre-construction team with the addition of a commercially minded Mechanical Estimator.
This is a hybrid role based from the Castleford office, with occasional travel and overnight stays required to support projects and client meetings.

As a Mechanical Estimator, you'll play a key role in securing new business by producing accurate, competitive and commercially viable estimates for a variety of mechanical installation projects.
Working closely with the wider pre-construction and operational teams, you'll ensure tenders are submitted to the highest standard whilst identifying opportunities to maximise project value.

• Prepare detailed mechanical estimates, material take-offs and cost plans.
• Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
• Obtain and assess supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Produce competitive tender submissions within required deadlines.
• Analyse project risks, market rates and value engineering opportunities.
• Liaise with clients, suppliers and internal project teams throughout the tender process.
• Support successful handover of awarded projects to the delivery team.
• Maintain strong commercial relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
• Contribute to continuous improvement within the estimating function.

• Previous experience as a Mechanical Estimator within the building services, M&E or construction sector.
• Strong understanding of commercial mechanical installations.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Confident using estimating software and Microsoft Office.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

• GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
• HNC/HND or BTEC in Mechanical Engineering or Construction (desirable).
• Degree qualification or professional membership would be advantageous.
