A well-established Mechanical Building Services contractor operating across London is looking to appoint a Mechanical Estimator to join its experienced Pre-Construction team.

The business has more than 25 years’ experience delivering high-quality mechanical projects and has developed longstanding relationships with leading contractors, consultants and end-user clients.

Its portfolio is centred around high-spec commercial office fit-out and refurbishment, alongside healthcare, retail, education, high-end residential and specialist environments. Projects are delivered through both traditional and Design & Build arrangements, with typical mechanical tender values ranging from approximately £500,000 to £12.5 million.

This is an excellent opportunity for a developing estimator to work alongside an experienced Head of Estimating, gain exposure to increasingly substantial tenders and continue building strong technical and commercial estimating experience.

The successful candidate will join a collaborative and supportive environment, working closely with established Pre-Construction, design, project and delivery teams while taking increasing ownership as their experience develops.

The Opportunity

As Mechanical Estimator, you will help manage mechanical tenders from initial enquiry through to final submission, supporting the business in securing profitable new projects.

Working closely with the Head of Estimating and wider Pre-Construction team, you will review tender information, prepare accurate estimates, obtain and assess quotations and contribute to competitive tender submissions.

Your role will include:

• Reviewing tender enquiries, drawings and specifications
• Preparing mechanical estimates and tender submissions
• Completing tender forms and pricing schedules
• Obtaining and evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotations
• Producing accurate and commercially competitive pricing
• Attending site surveys and pre- and post-tender meetings where required
• Contributing to Design & Build opportunities
• Liaising with clients, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors
• Managing multiple tenders and submission deadlines
• Following up tenders and supporting successful project handover
• Contributing to the continued improvement of estimating processes and systems

About You

We are looking for a Mechanical Estimator with around three years’ relevant industry experience, ideally gained within a Mechanical, HVAC or M&E Building Services contractor.

You should have:

• Previous experience within a Mechanical Estimating position
• A good understanding of mechanical building services
• Knowledge of HVAC, air conditioning, heating, cooling, plumbing and public health systems
• Experience reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documentation
• The ability to obtain and assess supplier and subcontractor quotations
• Strong numerical and analytical skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Good organisational and communication abilities
• The ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines
• Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel

Experience within commercial fit-out, refurbishment or Design & Build projects would be particularly advantageous.
