Are you a Mechanical Estimator with previous exposure to working on commercial projects looking to embed with an expanding company? I am working with an contractor who are looking for a mechanical estimator to bring in who has some experience and ambition to develop & progress their career. They do not have a high staff turnover and most of the people who join them advance their careers down one path or another.

Mechanical Estimator - The Role:

This is a hands-on role with a responsibility for the production of Mechanical tenders. You will have to breakdown client enquiries, organise or complete the required surveys and prepare detailed Mechanical estimates, tenders and quotations to ensure that opportunities are being accurately estimated competitively, successfully and profitably.

You will also support the Business in client meetings and estimation/tender presentations to help secure tendered opportunities. Using relevant industry experience, you will be expected to help develop and refine the estimation process to improve efficiency, clarity, and accuracy while reducing overall costs.

Key Responsibilities

  • To complete take-offs from mechanical tenders from conception for New Build / Residential builds.
  • To review and assess the tender documentation and requirements to enable submission.
  • To obtain a suitable number of competitive quotations and compare on a like-for-like basis.
  • To produce accurate net estimates with full breakdowns.
  • Liaising with other members of the estimating team and contracts managers.
  • Carry out estimates using electronic packages.
  • Develop working relationships with design consultants, main contractors, and clients to establish communication paths.
  • Understanding and interpreting Specifications.
  • Compiling the Complete Estimate and Presenting it to the Commercial Manager Directors before Submission.
  • Attending Pre/Post-Tender Interviews.
  • Dealing with Post Tender Queries / Negotiations up to Point of Order.

Mechanical Estimator  - Requirements:

As mechanical estimator you would be expected to have a solid understanding of Mechanical estimating and previous experience in the construction industry, ideally as an estimator in a similar role.

You would also have an established background in Estimating, Project & Bid Management allowing you to understand and interpret detailed Technical Works Scope documentation Identify, quantify and mitigate areas of commercial risk.

You will also need the ability to plan workload for themselves with others to ensure delivery to client deadlines

Remuneration:

Depending on the skills and experience you bring to the table the salary on offer is between £60,000 and £70,000 + package
