If you are looking for an opportunity to build specialist skills in a hands on role, with long term career progression and on-going training this could be for you.

The Role and About You

Imagine a mechanical fitting role where your weekend starts the moment you clock off, and you do not have to think about returning to work until Tuesday morning.

You will step into a shift pattern that rewards hard work and protects your personal time, whilst offering regular overtime potential to help fund those extra things in life.

On a 4 on 3 off shift pattern you will work Tuesday and Friday, you will completely bypass Monday morning blues. With a rotation of 4 dayshifts (Tuesday to Friday) followed by a 3-day weekend, and 3 nightshifts (Tuesday to Thursday) followed by a 4-day weekend, your time in and away from work is fully maximised.

Your day-to-day work will focus on the maintenance, inspection, and fault-finding of specialist rail vehicles. You will utilise heavy mechanical fitting skills to handle component replacements, brake testing, and structural repairs. If you come from a background in vehicle maintenance, heavy plant machinery, rolling stock, agricultural machinery, or similar your technical expertise will be highly valued here.

As a key team member, you will have the opportunity to learn and develop, giving the chance to enhance your skills and pay whilst in the job. There is also opportunity for the right candidates to progress within employment and undergo further internal training and promotion to become skilled within advanced engineering skills such as diagnostics & fault -find/rectification and electrical engineering elements.

Requirements:

  • Previous hands-on work experience in mechanical fitting
  • Formal qualifications such as a level 2 or 3 in any engineering, welding, fabrication or production discipline would be desirable but are not essential
  • Must be able to pass a drugs & alcohol test and undergo a medical check to ensure fitness to work

The Company

Ganymede is partnering with a unique engineering and logistics company in Southampton docks that recognise that local talent deserves a supportive work environment and culture where you can achieve a good work life balance and ongoing learning and development at your pace. You will be backed by a team that takes pride in delivering excellence, providing you with a team focused environment and the specialised tooling, equipment and training required to get the job done right first time.
