Mechanical Fitter

Location: Southern Water Region
Rate: £200 per day (CIS) + Overtime + Company Van & Fuel Card

The Company

Our client is a well-established mechanical engineering contractor delivering maintenance, refurbishment and installation projects across the UK Water Industry. With a strong presence on the Southern Water framework, they specialise in pumping station upgrades, mechanical installations and asset refurbishment, offering long-term, secure work on a wide variety of clean and wastewater sites.

Due to continued growth and an increasing workload, they are looking to recruit an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join their team.

The Role

Working across Southern Water sites, you'll be responsible for carrying out mechanical refurbishment, installation and maintenance work on pumping stations and associated infrastructure. This is a hands-on role involving everything from pump refurbishments and mechanical fitting through to steelwork installations and site improvements.

Although paid on a CIS basis (£200 per day), this is a long-term opportunity where you'll become a valued part of the team rather than a short-term contractor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out refurbishment, repair and installation of pumps and associated mechanical equipment.
  • Install handrails, ladders and access steelwork on water and wastewater sites.
  • Complete mechanical fabrication and on-site fitting work.
  • Install structural steelwork and support frameworks.
  • Replace and refurbish mechanical assets within pumping stations.
  • Carry out planned maintenance and reactive repairs.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and to a high standard.
  • Work closely with site teams to deliver projects on time.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience as a Mechanical Fitter within the water, utilities, industrial or heavy engineering sectors.
  • Experience working on pumps, pipework and mechanical equipment.
  • Confident carrying out mechanical installations and refurbishment work.
  • Experience with steelwork, fabrication, handrail or ladder installations would be highly advantageous.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • UTR Number is essential.
  • CSCS Card is beneficial but not essential.
  • Water industry experience is advantageous but candidates from other mechanical backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

What's On Offer

  • £200 per day (CIS).
  • Company van and fuel card.
  • Plenty of overtime available.
  • 9-hour working day.
  • Long-term, secure workload on the Southern Water framework.
  • Opportunity to join a growing business with a strong reputation in the UK Water Industry.
  • Ongoing training and opportunities to develop your skillset.
  • Varied work across mechanical refurbishment, installation and maintenance projects.

This role would suit a Mechanical Fitter looking for long-term work with a busy contractor, offering consistent projects, excellent earning potential through overtime, and the opportunity to work across a major UK water framework.
