MECHANICAL FITTERS

Batley | Permanent | Bespoke Vehicle Manufacturing

If you can build it, fit it, fix it and take pride in the finished product - we want to hear from you.

We're working with a well-established specialist vehicle manufacturer in Batley that designs, builds and converts high-specification vehicles for demanding customers.

They're growing their team and are looking for experienced Mechanical Fitters who want to work on something more interesting than the same production line every day.

This is bespoke vehicle work. Every project brings different challenges, meaning you'll need to be someone who enjoys problem-solving, takes pride in their workmanship and doesn't need everything spelled out for them.

COACH BUILDERS

You'll be working on the structural and bodywork side of specialist vehicle builds and conversions.

MECHANICAL FITTERS

You'll be responsible for installing, assembling and commissioning mechanical systems and components as part of bespoke vehicle builds.

Your day could involve:

  • Mechanical assembly and installation
  • Fitting mechanical components and systems
  • Working from engineering drawings and specifications
  • Using hand and power tools
  • Modifying and adapting components where required
  • Fault-finding and problem-solving during builds
  • Ensuring equipment is correctly installed, aligned and tested
  • Working closely with electrical, fabrication and bodywork teams
  • Maintaining high standards of quality, safety and workmanship

You'll need: mechanical fitting, assembly, vehicle engineering, plant machinery or another relevant mechanical background.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We're not looking for people who simply want to clock in, do the minimum and clock out.

We're looking for people who:

  • Have hands-on experience in coach building, vehicle body building, mechanical fitting or a related trade
  • Can read and understand engineering drawings
  • Are comfortable using a wide range of hand and power tools
  • Take genuine pride in their workmanship
  • Can work accurately without someone standing over them
  • Enjoy solving problems when things don't go exactly to plan
  • Understand the importance of quality, safety and hitting deadlines
  • Work well as part of a team
  • Want to develop their skills and build a career in specialist vehicle manufacturing

WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU?

This isn't repetitive production-line work.

You'll be working on bespoke, specialist vehicles, developing your skills across different projects and working alongside experienced engineers and tradespeople.

You'll get the opportunity to work on genuinely interesting builds where your workmanship is visible in the finished product.
