Pay Rate: £19.51 - £19.89 per hour, depending on experience
Hours: Monday- Thursday, 6:30am-3:00pm | Friday, 6:30am-12:00pm
Contract: At first up to 6 months, with the potential to extend for up to 23 months



The Opportunity

Our exclusive client is seeking an Experienced Mechanical Fitter to join their team in Christchurch.

Our client is a leading provider of integrated avionics, engines, systems and service solutions, supporting aircraft manufacturers, airlines, business and general aviation, military, space and airport operations.

This is an excellent opportunity to work within a highly regulated aerospace environment, contributing to the assembly, testing and maintenance of safety-critical equipment and components.

Previous experience and knowledge within the aerospace/aircraft industry is essential. Manufacturing experience may also be considered where candidates can demonstrate the required mechanical fitting skills and understanding of working within a safety-critical environment.



Key Responsibilities

As a Mechanical Fitter, your responsibilities will include:

  • Constructing, maintaining and testing mechanical equipment, machinery and components.
  • Identifying parts requiring replacement and arranging orders where necessary.
  • Manufacturing and assembling products in accordance with engineering drawings and work instructions.
  • Carrying out mechanical fitting of ECS & LSS equipment.
  • Performing Operator Control of Quality (OCQ), including stamping to confirm assemblies meet company and customer standards.
  • Ensuring work is completed on time and to the required quality standard to support delivery targets.
  • Interpreting engineering drawings and following process layouts and relevant documentation.
  • Working effectively within a Lean manufacturing environment.
  • Working closely with Designers and Engineers to achieve production and quality requirements.
  • Maintaining a consistently high standard of Health & Safety.


About You

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Fitter who can demonstrate:

  • Practical knowledge of mechanical assembly and fitting applications.
  • Previous experience within an aerospace, aircraft or manufacturing environment.
  • An understanding of aerospace practices and the importance of working on safety-critical equipment.
  • The ability to accurately read and follow engineering drawings, instructions and procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • A proactive approach to Health & Safety.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team while also using your own initiative.
  • Flexibility and a willingness to support changing production requirements.
  • Experience working in a customer-focused environment and achieving targets.
  • Basic PC literacy.
  • An understanding of Continuous Improvement principles.


Qualifications & Training

An Engineering Apprenticeship would be desirable but is not essential.
