We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established specialist vehicle manufacturing business for a Mechanical Fitter to join their expanding production team at Trafford Park, Manchester. This is a permanent position offering an excellent opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to work with a reputable employer known for designing and producing high-quality commercial vehicle bodies, with full training provided where necessary.
The role of Mechanical Fitter offers the chance to work in a dynamic environment with a competitive salary of £35,500 per annum. The position is based on a 44-hour working week with flexible working opportunities, including early finishes on Fridays. Duties of the Mechanical Fitter:
  • Assemble and fit specialist commercial vehicle bodies in accordance with engineering drawings and work instructions
  • Safely operate hand tools, measuring equipment, and workshop machinery
  • Install insulated panels on commercial refrigerated vehicle bodies
  • Complete electrical terminations, including lighting, switches, and tail lifts
  • Seal joints, floors, and roofs using silicone and specialist coatings
  • Cut and prepare metal, timber, and plastic components using workshop equipment
  • Maintain strict health and safety standards and good housekeeping practices
  • Support broader production activities as required
  • Ensure all work is completed to high quality standards, efficiently and accurately
Requirements of the Mechanical Fitter:
  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter or in a similar manufacturing or engineering environment
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Skilled in the safe use of hand tools and workshop machinery
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes
  • High attention to detail and quality standards
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Reliable transport or ability to commute to Trafford Park, Manchester
