Mechanical Fitter

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing business specialising in switchgear, electrical distribution equipment and associated assemblies.

As a Mechanical Fitter, you will be responsible for the mechanical assembly and fitting of switchgear units, electrical enclosures, panels and associated components.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Mechanical assembly of switchgear units, cabinets, frames and enclosures
• Fitting components including busbar supports, brackets, panels, mechanisms and internal assemblies
• Working from mechanical drawings, assembly drawings and engineering instructions
• Drilling, tapping, cutting, filing and general bench fitting
• Using hand tools, power tools and measuring equipment
• Installing mechanical components accurately to specification
• Carrying out basic modifications and adjustments where required
• Inspecting completed assemblies to ensure quality standards are met
• Working closely with electrical fitters, wiremen and production engineers
• Following company health & safety and quality procedures

The Ideal Candidate:

• Previous mechanical fitting or assembly experience within an engineering/manufacturing environment
• Experience working from engineering or technical drawings
• Good practical knowledge of hand and power tools
• Experience with drilling, tapping and general mechanical assembly
• A strong eye for detail and good workmanship
• The ability to work independently and as part of a production team
