We’re looking for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join an established engineering and manufacturing business, supporting the maintenance, repair and overhaul of mechanical equipment.

You'll be responsible for dismantling, inspecting, repairing and assembling mechanical components, sub-assemblies and complete systems, using your fitting skills and attention to detail to ensure high standards of quality and workmanship.

Key Responsibilities

• Dismantle, clean, inspect and assess mechanical equipment, recording findings and identifying any issues.
• Repair, rebuild and assemble mechanical components, sub-assemblies and complete systems.
• Carry out bench fitting to engineering drawings, specified tolerances and quality standards.
• Follow work instructions and raise any technical or quality concerns.
• Record working hours accurately against the correct job or cost code using the company's ERP system.
• Work closely with colleagues across fitting, wiring, testing, inspection and stores.
• Maintain a safe, tidy working environment while meeting production deadlines.

Requirements

• Recognised apprenticeship in Mechanical Fitting, Machine Building, Assembly or a similar discipline.
• NVQ / City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent relevant technical qualification.
• Practical experience in mechanical fitting, equipment assembly, repair or overhaul.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Strong bench-fitting skills and confident use of hand and powered tools.
• Experience using manual machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, surface grinders and pedestal drills.
• Competence using precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, vernier calipers and slip gauges.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, with the ability to maintain accurate work records.

Working Hours

37.5 hours per week:

• Monday–Thursday: 08:15–17:00
• Friday: 08:15–12:45

Overtime opportunities may be available.
