Introduction

Acorn by Synergie is recruiting for a hands-on Mechanical Fitter / Site Engineer to join a field service team based in Willand.

You'll work predominantly off-site at customer locations, assembling, installing, maintaining and repairing industrial machinery and equipment.

Travel time is paid, with a company van and fuel card provided. This is a varied role where no two days are the same, with the opportunity to work across different customer sites rather than being workshop-based.

Key Duties

  • Build and install mechanical systems, structures and industrial equipment on customer sites, working to specifications and deadlines.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance to keep machinery running efficiently and minimise downtime.
  • Diagnose faults and carry out mechanical repairs on industrial equipment, including bearings, gearboxes, hydraulics, conveyors and pumps.
  • Read and work from engineering drawings to construct, install and modify mechanical systems and structures.
  • Work safely on customer sites, following permits and RAMS and maintaining high standards of workmanship.
  • Complete job sheets and service reports and highlight any issues or recommendations to the client.


Requirements

  • Proven experience in assembly, installation and maintenance of industrial machinery and equipment.
  • Strong mechanical fitting skills, including fitting, alignment, fault diagnosis and use of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings - essential for installing systems correctly.
  • Self-motivated and able to problem-solve independently on site.
  • Full UK driving licence - essential due to the travel requirements. No points preferred for insurance purposes.

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience constructing mechanical systems and structures from scratch.
  • Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Previous field service or Site Engineer experience.
  • Welding skills or a fabrication background.
