Our client is recruiting an experienced Mechanical Installation Engineer to join a growing power generation business, specialising in standby power solutions for commercial and industrial customers.
This is a hands-on, site-based role suited to someone with proven experience installing diesel and gas-powered generators within commercial environments. You will work across a varied portfolio of projects, from smaller generator installations through to larger, more complex power generation schemes. Working alongside project managers, site teams and specialist contractors, you will play a key role in delivering safe, high-quality installations across Scotland.
You may spend a few days away during some weeks, while other projects could require one or two weeks away out of every four. Accommodation and food allowances are provided when working away, alongside overtime opportunities to support project delivery and completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out and support the mechanical installation of commercial diesel and gas generators.
- Work on projects of varying sizes, from smaller installations to large-scale generator and standby power schemes.
- Install and coordinate associated mechanical systems, including fuel tanks, fuel pipework, exhausts, silencers and supporting steelwork.
- Assist with generator positioning, lift and shift operations, access planning and site preparation.
- Interpret technical drawings, specifications and installation plans.
- Complete site surveys, identify installation challenges and help resolve technical issues.
- Liaise with project managers, site supervisors, subcontractors and customers to ensure projects run smoothly.
- Carry out installation checks, testing support, snagging and project handovers.
- Maintain high standards of health and safety, workmanship and quality throughout each installation.
What We're Looking For
- Proven hands-on experience installing both diesel and gas-powered generators on commercial sites.
- Experience delivering a mixture of smaller installations and larger, more complex projects.
- Good mechanical installation knowledge, ideally covering fuel systems, pipework, exhaust systems and associated supports.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- A strong understanding of site health and safety, risk assessments and safe working practices.
- Experience in standby power, critical infrastructure, industrial plant or commercial power generation would be particularly relevant.
- A full UK driving licence.
What's on Offer?
- £45,000 basic salary
- Commercial van and fuel card
- Door-to-door pay, including travel time
- Accommodation and food allowances when working away
- Overtime opportunities, particularly around project completion
- Varied projects involving both smaller installations and larger, technically challenging schemes
- The opportunity to develop your experience within a growing power generation business
