Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

Location: Blackburn
Salary: £45,000 basic salary
Hours: Monday-Thursday, 8:00am-5:00pm | Friday, 8:00am-3:00pm
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

ES Recruit are recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join an established manufacturing business based in Blackburn.

This is a varied, hands-on position responsible for ensuring plant, machinery and site equipment are maintained to a high operational and safety standard. You will support production through planned and preventative maintenance, breakdown response, fault finding and continuous plant improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and preventative mechanical maintenance across plant and equipment
• Respond to machinery breakdowns and carry out effective fault finding and repairs
• Maintain pumps, valves, mixers, motors and associated mechanical equipment
• Ensure servicing and maintenance schedules are completed and kept up to date
• Identify inefficient or obsolete equipment and recommend improvements
• Support plant improvement and reliability projects
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, servicing and maintenance activities
• Manage contractors and ensure safe systems of work are followed
• Ensure Permit to Work procedures are correctly adhered to
• Complete job-specific risk assessments
• Assist with maintaining site facilities, security and fire prevention measures
• Liaise with production, process engineering and management regarding plant requirements

Skills & Experience

• Mechanical Engineering qualification
• Previous experience within a mechanical maintenance role
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills
• Experience maintaining pumps, valves, mixers and motors
• Good understanding of Health & Safety and safe working practices
• Ability to prioritise maintenance requirements within a busy manufacturing environment
• Experience with compressed air, thermal oil, hot water and steam systems would be particularly beneficial
