Location: Bradford
Salary: £43,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm
Job Type: Permanent, Full Time

The Role

We are recruiting for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join an established manufacturing operation in Bradford.

Working as part of the engineering team and reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining processing plant and equipment, carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, and supporting the site in maximising plant reliability and reducing downtime.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Engineer with some electrical maintenance experience who is looking to join a well-established organisation offering training, benefits and long-term development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance to maximise plant reliability and minimise downtime.
  • Undertake planned and emergency mechanical and electrical repairs on processing equipment.
  • Diagnose faults and carry out effective fault finding during breakdown situations.
  • Complete follow-up actions and accurately record maintenance activities using SAP or a CMMS system.
  • Develop Risk Assessments and Method Statements for engineering activities.
  • Work alongside contractors during planned maintenance and engineering projects.
  • Manage and maintain appropriate stock levels of machinery spares and consumables.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and in line with industry best practice.
  • Support continuous improvement and identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and efficiency.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • A recognised apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing, processing or industrial environment.
  • Practical experience of mechanical maintenance and repair.
  • Some previous experience of electrical maintenance and fault finding.
  • The ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical equipment faults.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • A strong understanding of Health & Safety procedures and safe working practices.
  • Experience using SAP, CMMS or maintenance management systems would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • A flexible, proactive and team-focused approach to work.
  • The ability to work independently and remain calm when dealing with emergency breakdowns.
