Location: Coleford, Gloucestershire
Salary: £52,641 per annum + Excellent Benefits
Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off (Days & Nights) | 18-day break every 6 rotations

Kingston Barnes is recruiting for a Shift Mechanical Fitter on behalf of a leading manufacturer in the Coleford area. This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy engineering team responsible for maintaining high-speed production equipment within a continuous manufacturing environment.

The Role

As a Shift Mechanical Fitter, you will be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance, responding to mechanical breakdowns and supporting continuous improvement across the site to maximise plant reliability and production performance.

Your duties will include:

  • Carrying out planned and reactive mechanical maintenance
  • Diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults on production equipment
  • Completing preventative maintenance schedules through the CMMS system
  • Working on pumps, bearings, gearboxes, conveyors, compressors, fans and rotating equipment
  • Fault finding and repair of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Bearing replacement, coupling alignment and transmission belt maintenance
  • General fabrication, machining, rigging and lifting duties
  • Ensuring all work is completed safely in line with site procedures and permit-to-work systems
  • Supporting engineering improvements and identifying root causes of equipment failures

The Ideal Candidate

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent Mechanical Engineering qualification
  • Previous experience within a manufacturing, process or industrial environment
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding and maintenance skills
  • Experience working with rotating equipment, pumps, conveyors, bearings and gearboxes
  • Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Good understanding of preventative maintenance and CMMS systems (SAP experience advantageous)
  • A proactive approach with excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a shift engineering team
