Questech Recruitment are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join their engineering team within a busy manufacturing environment.

Salary: Around £39,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday – Rotating Days & Afters
Overtime: Weekend overtime available at enhanced rates

This is an excellent opportunity for an apprentice-trained Mechanical Engineer who enjoys hands-on maintenance and working with a wide variety of machinery. The site operates an interesting mix of equipment ranging from 1950s machinery through to modern-day equipment, making this a varied position for an engineer with strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.

The Role

  • Responding promptly to machinery breakdowns and carrying out effective repairs to minimise production downtime.
  • Mechanical fault finding, diagnostics and repairs.
  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) in line with the site maintenance schedule.
  • Completing regular machine maintenance programmes and associated documentation.
  • Maintaining and repairing gearboxes, bearings, belts, motors and other mechanical components.
  • Working on press brakes and similar manufacturing machinery.
  • Maintaining a varied range of machinery, from equipment dating back to the 1950s through to modern-day machinery.
  • Supporting general building and facilities maintenance when required.
  • Carrying out basic electrical fault finding and maintenance where appropriate.

The Person

The successful Mechanical Maintenance Engineer will:

  • Be apprentice trained with an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent engineering qualification.
  • Have previous experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, Mechanical Engineer or similar.
  • Have strong mechanical maintenance and fault-finding experience.
  • Have experience working with press brakes or similar industrial/manufacturing machinery.
  • Have hands-on experience with gearboxes, bearings, belts, motors and mechanical systems.
  • Be comfortable working on both older and modern manufacturing machinery.
  • Have experience within a manufacturing, production or industrial environment.
  • Ideally have some electrical maintenance and fault-finding knowledge.
