Salary: £42,000 - £47,000 per annum (DOE) + Overtime + Benefits

Shift Pattern: Weekly rotating shifts: 04:00 - 12:30 | 12:00 - 20:30

Overview

The Flavour Network is partnering with a well-established food manufacturing business to recruit a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a busy engineering department.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a successful manufacturer where you'll be responsible for maintaining and improving production machinery, supporting continuous improvement projects and helping to maximise equipment reliability across the site.

As the Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you'll be working within a proactive engineering team; you'll carry out planned maintenance, reactive repairs and equipment improvements while ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality and operational performance are maintained.

Duties & Responsibilities for the Mechanical Maintenance Engineer 

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on production machinery and site services.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical faults quickly and effectively.
  • Assist with electrical maintenance activities where appropriate.
  • Complete repairs, refurbishments, installations and machinery upgrades.
  • Support engineering improvement projects to increase plant reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Record maintenance activities accurately using the site's CMMS.
  • Carry out statutory inspections and routine engineering checks.
  • Update mechanical drawings where required.
  • Work safely in line with Permit to Work and Isolation procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, GMP and company engineering standards.
  • Work closely with Production to improve plant performance and efficiency.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the engineering department.

Requirements for the Mechanical Maintenance Engineer 

Essential

  • City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3, ONC or recognised apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Previous experience working within a manufacturing maintenance environment.
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills.
  • Experience carrying out planned and reactive maintenance.
  • Good understanding of engineering maintenance practices.
  • Experience using CMMS systems.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Desirable

  • Previous experience within food manufacturing or FMCG.
  • Basic electrical fault-finding knowledge.
  • Welding or fabrication experience.
  • Continuous Improvement experience.
