Build a Career That Powers the Future

Are you a hands-on Mechanical Fitter who enjoys working outdoors, solving problems, and getting stuck into large-scale industrial equipment

At Pretoria Energy, we're transforming organic waste into clean, renewable energy.

Through advanced Anaerobic Digestion (AD), Combined Heat & Power (CHP) generation, biomethane production, and carbon capture technologies, we help reduce carbon emissions while producing sustainable energy for homes, businesses, and the national grid.

As we continue to grow, we're looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Fitter to join our Engineering Team.

This is not a workshop-based role it's an opportunity to work on cutting-edge renewable energy facilities where you'll play a vital role in keeping complex process plants operating safely and efficiently.

If you're the type of engineer who prefers being out on site rather than behind a desk, this could be the perfect opportunity.

What the Mechanical Maintenance Fitter Role Involves

This is a highly practical, physically active position working across our Anaerobic Digestion facilities.

A significant proportion of your time will be spent working outdoors, at height, and in all weather conditions, carrying out inspections, repairs, maintenance, and installations on a wide range of plant equipment.

Whether it's a crisp winter morning, a rainy afternoon, or a warm summer day, you'll be a key part of the team keeping our renewable energy operations running.

No two days are the same.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across site.
  • Diagnosing faults and completing mechanical repairs quickly and effectively.
  • Servicing, repairing, installing, testing, and inspecting plant equipment.
  • Working safely at height on process plant infrastructure, access platforms, tanks, and associated equipment.
  • Performing maintenance activities across outdoor operational areas in all weather conditions.
  • Operating and maintaining equipment including telehandlers, forklifts, conveyors, pumps, mixers, augers, and associated machinery.
  • Assisting with installations, upgrades, and plant improvement projects.
  • Completing maintenance records using tablet-based systems.
  • Supporting the wider engineering team with breakdown response and operational improvements.
  • Following Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality standards at all times.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking motivated engineers who enjoy practical work, take pride in high standards, and want to be part of the renewable energy sector.

In order to be successful in this role you must have:

  • Experience as a Mechanical Fitter, Maintenance Technician, Plant Engineer, Agricultural Engineer, or similar.
  • Strong mechanical maintenance experience within industrial, process, agricultural, manufacturing, waste, recycling, quarrying, utilities, or related environments.
  • Experience working on: Gearboxes, Motors and engines, Conveyors and augers, Hydraulics and pneumatics, Pumps and valves.
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable working at height.
  • Comfortable working outdoors for the majority of your working day.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Right to work in the UK.

It would be great if you had:

  • Telehandler or forklift licences.
  • MEWP / Cherry Picker experience.
  • Welding and fabrication skills.
  • Experience within Anaerobic Digestion, Biogas, Renewables, Agriculture, Utilities, or Process Industries.

This is more than a maintenance role, it's a chance to become part of an industry helping shape a more sustainable future.

At Pretoria Energy, you'll work with innovative green technologies that convert waste into clean energy, helping reduce environmental impact while supporting the UK's transition to a low-carbon economy.

You'll join a supportive engineering team, receive specialist training, and gain valuable experience in one of the fastest-growing sectors in the energy market.

If you're looking for a role that combines engineering, problem-solving, outdoor working, and genuine long-term career prospects, we'd love to hear from you.
