We're looking for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join a busy manufacturing operation in Peterborough.

This is a hands-on mechanical maintenance role where you'll be responsible for keeping production machinery running safely and efficiently. You'll carry out planned preventative maintenance, fault finding, breakdown repairs, machine adjustments and continuous improvement activities to minimise downtime and maximise production output.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on production machinery.
  • Diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults and breakdowns.
  • Responding to line stoppages and equipment failures.
  • Completing machine repairs, adjustments and tooling changes.
  • Supporting machinery performance improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Using workshop machinery, tools and measuring equipment.
  • Maintaining high Health & Safety standards at all times.
  • Completing maintenance documentation and records accurately.

What We're Looking For

Essential

To be considered, you'll need:

  • A Level 3 Mechanical Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Motor Vehicle, HGV, Plant or a related discipline.
  • Hands-on experience maintaining and repairing mechanical machinery or equipment.
  • Experience diagnosing and fixing mechanical faults and breakdowns.
  • Planned preventative maintenance experience.
  • Experience using workshop machinery and measuring equipment.
  • A strong commitment to Health & Safety.
  • A practical, can-do approach and strong problem-solving skills.

Ideally You'll Have Experience With

  • Lathes.
  • Milling machines.
  • Welding equipment.
  • Cutting equipment.
  • Precision measuring tools.
  • Machine repairs and adjustments.
  • Tooling changes and machine changeovers.

Highly Desirable

  • Maintaining manufacturing or production equipment.
  • Working within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve output, quality and efficiency.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
