The Opportunity
The UK is rapidly expanding its hydrogen production capabilities as part of its Net Zero strategy. With a national target of 10GW of low‑carbon hydrogen production by 2030, Dalkia Engineering is proud to be the EPC contractor on two major hydrogen production schemes in the North West (Barrow & Trafford). To support this growing pipeline, we are looking for a Mechanical Project Engineer with experience in technically challenging, multi‑disciplined engineering environments. This is a key role within our expanding Energy department and an opportunity to contribute to one of the UK's most significant low‑carbon growth sectors.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery & Technical Support
- Support all technical and commercial aspects of mechanical installation
- Ensure safe, compliant, and efficient site operations
- Interpret mechanical design information and adapt where necessary
- Maintain high-quality and performance standards
- Provide clear technical guidance to foremen and installation teams
Planning, Reporting & Coordination
- Deliver tasks within agreed timescales and budgets
- Support accurate procurement and ensure technical alignment
- Operate project reporting systems and contribute to performance monitoring
- Identify risks, constraints, and implement corrective measures
- Manage subcontractor performance and coordinate with project specialists
Teamwork & Collaboration
- Represent Dalkia Engineering when engaging with clients
- Contribute effectively in meetings and project reviews
- Uphold QSHE procedures across all activities
- Identify snags/defects and support timely commissioning
- Support the development of trainees and junior team members

Qualifications
Essential:
- HNC / HND / Degree in Engineering Services
- Black CSCS Skill Card
- IOSH Managing Safety
- Proficiency in MS Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
