An established M&E contractor is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to join its team due to an increasing workload across a secure and technically demanding environment in Plymouth.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Mechanical Supervisor looking to progress into a project engineering role, or an existing Project Engineer seeking a varied position with genuine career development prospects. The role will involve the delivery of a range of small works and medium-sized projects, primarily focused on HVAC, water and ventilation systems within existing buildings and facilities.
The Role
Working closely with clients, site teams and subcontractors, you will be responsible for coordinating and delivering mechanical projects from initial planning through to completion and handover.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing and coordinating mechanical projects across multiple workstreams.
- Overseeing site teams and subcontractors, ensuring works are delivered safely and efficiently.
- Planning labour requirements, work schedules and project programmes.
- Producing RAMS, quality plans and project documentation.
- Coordinating materials, plant and specialist subcontractors.
- Monitoring project progress, quality and compliance.
- Attending client and project meetings, providing regular updates on delivery.
- Supporting commissioning, testing and project handover activities.
- Ensuring health & safety standards are maintained at all times.
- Providing technical support and guidance to site teams.
We are looking for a motivated and organised mechanical professional who can demonstrate strong technical knowledge and leadership capability.
You will ideally have:
- A recognised Mechanical qualification (NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent).
- Experience working with HVAC, water services and ventilation systems.
- Previous experience in a supervisory, lead engineer or project engineering role.
- Strong planning, coordination and organisational skills.
- Experience producing RAMS, quality documentation and work programmes.
- Good IT skills and confidence using project management and reporting systems.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach to project delivery.
- SSSTS, First Aid and CSCS certification.
- The ability to obtain Security Clearance, or currently hold valid clearance.
- £45,000 - £55,000 salary
