About the Role
We are working with a well-established Mechanical & Electrical building services contractor with a strong reputation for delivering complex, high-quality projects across the UK. They are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to join their team in Leeds.
This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and commercially astute Project Manager to take ownership of mechanical projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards while exceeding client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Day-to-day management of Site Managers, apprentices, and coordination with Project Coordinators and other internal teams (Pre-Construction & Design, Operations).
- Oversee design compliance, technical submissions, and ensure all works align with project specifications, contractor proposals, and employer requirements.
- Manage site operations including resource allocation, programming, risk assessments, permits, quality control, and KPI tracking.
- Champion Health & Safety compliance, including RAMS, permits, and incident reporting.
- Implement Inspection, Testing & Commissioning Plans (ITCP) and ensure all plant/equipment is installed to manufacturer standards.
- Manage project programmes, progress reporting, internal meetings, testing/commissioning, and aim for zero defects.
- Handle full project finances: variations, cost forecasts, final accounts, risk registers, payments, cash flow, and procurement (including 3 quotes, value engineering, and supplier/subcontractor management).
- Maintain strong stakeholder relationships, customer satisfaction, and resolve disputes effectively.
- Contribute to business development by identifying opportunities and leading lessons-learned reviews.
- Adopt a collaborative M&E approach, acting as lead client contact where required.
Person Specification Essential Experience:
- Proven track record as a Project Manager in the construction sector, ideally with a strong mechanical (M&E) installations background.
- Experience managing mid-value building services projects.
Qualifications (desired):
- Health & Safety qualification (e.g., SMSTS or IOSH).
Skills & Knowledge:
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to manage budgets, variations, and maximise profitability.
- Highly organised with proven ability to plan resources, solve problems, and work under pressure.
- Proficient in MS Office and project management software.
- Detailed knowledge of H&S legislation relevant to construction sites.
