Mechanical Project Manager
The Role
An established building services contractor is seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to deliver commercial fit-out projects across London.
You will take responsibility for mechanical packages from pre-construction through to completion, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the required quality standards. Projects will include high-quality office, workplace and commercial interior fit-outs throughout Central and Greater London.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the delivery of mechanical building services packages from design coordination through installation, commissioning and handover.
- Develop and maintain project programmes, procurement schedules and delivery plans.
- Coordinate mechanical works with electrical, architectural, structural and specialist subcontractor packages.
- Review drawings, specifications, technical submissions and design information.
- Manage subcontractors, suppliers and direct labour, ensuring works meet programme and quality requirements.
- Monitor project costs, variations, procurement and commercial performance alongside the commercial team.
- Chair progress meetings and provide clear reports to clients, consultants and senior management.
- Identify project risks, technical issues and programme constraints, implementing effective solutions.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements, company procedures and relevant building regulations.
- Oversee testing, commissioning, snagging, O&M documentation and final handover.
- Build strong working relationships with clients, consultants, main contractors and supply-chain partners.
Experience and Skills
- Proven experience managing mechanical building services projects within the commercial fit-out sector.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, ventilation, heating, cooling, public health and associated control systems.
- Experience delivering projects in live or occupied commercial environments is advantageous.
- Good understanding of mechanical design, coordination, commissioning and handover processes.
- Strong commercial awareness, including cost control, variations and subcontractor management.
- Excellent organisational, communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in fast-paced project environments.
- Competent in reviewing technical drawings, programmes and project documentation.
- Relevant mechanical or building services qualification is desirable.
- Current SMSTS, CSCS and first-aid certification would be beneficial.
