We are working in partnership with a leading Tier One contractor to appoint a Mechanical Project Manager on a flagship new build life sciences development in Cambridge.

This is a high-profile scheme within the UK’s rapidly expanding science and technology sector, delivering a state-of-the-art laboratory facility with complex MEP requirements and a strong focus on quality, safety and technical excellence.


The Opportunity

As Mechanical Project Manager, you will take full responsibility for the successful delivery of the mechanical package within a large-scale, multi-disciplinary construction project. Working as part of a collaborative project team, you will lead the end-to-end delivery across design, procurement, installation, commissioning and handover.

This is a key leadership role within a technically complex environment, offering the opportunity to play a pivotal role in a landmark development.


What You’ll Do

  • Lead the day-to-day management of the mechanical package, ensuring delivery to programme, budget and quality expectations
  • Ensure full compliance across design, engineering, construction and commissioning processes
  • Add value through design review and challenge, improving buildability, programme efficiency and reducing whole-life cost and carbon
  • Manage procurement, logistics and installation strategy across your scope
  • Develop and maintain robust project controls and reporting processes
  • Take ownership of programme delivery, including development, monitoring and mitigation planning (Plan B scenarios)
  • Coordinate effectively with internal teams, subcontractors, consultants and client stakeholders
  • Capture and share lessons learned to support continuous improvement across the business


What You’ll Bring

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Project Manager within a Tier One contractor or leading MEP contractor environment
  • Strong track record delivering large-scale, technically complex MEP projects, ideally within life sciences, healthcare or commercial sectors
  • Demonstrable experience managing multiple interfaces, disciplines and work sequencing
  • Strong leadership capability with experience leading teams and driving performance
  • Excellent understanding of mechanical building services systems and full project lifecycle delivery
  • Formal Health & Safety qualifications, minimum SMSTS
  • Strong commercial awareness and client-facing capability
