Mechanical Project Manager Opportunity – Decarbonisation & Retrofit - East London - Freelance

Mechanical Project Manager required to join a well-respected M&E contractor specialising in decarbonisation and retrofit projects across London and the South East.

Our client has built a strong reputation for delivering sustainable building upgrades directly for end clients and has secured a notable long-term decarbonisation scheme in East London. They are now looking to appoint an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to lead the delivery of mechanical upgrade works on this flagship project.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on a high-profile sustainability-focused development with a contractor that has a strong pipeline of future projects, offering competitive freelance day rates and long-term continuity of work.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the delivery of mechanical retrofit and decarbonisation works from inception through to completion.
• Oversee the installation of energy-efficient building services, including air source heat pumps (ASHP) and ground source heat pumps (GSHP).
• Coordinate site teams, subcontractors and specialist suppliers.
• Manage programme, quality, health & safety and project budgets.
• Liaise directly with the end client and project stakeholders, ensuring excellent communication throughout delivery.
• Monitor project progress, resolve technical and commercial issues, and drive successful project outcomes.
• Ensure all works are delivered in line with specification, programme and regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Project Manager within the M&E or building services sector.
• Experience delivering retrofit, decarbonisation or mechanical upgrade projects is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of renewable heating technologies, including heat pump installations, is advantageous.
• Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills.
• Excellent organisational, commercial and leadership abilities.
