Senior Mechanical Project Manager

Location: Watford (Office-Based with 1-3 Days Per Week on Site)

Our client is a growing construction and engineering contractor delivering complex projects across sectors including commercial, manufacturing, healthcare and pharmaceutical. They are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Project Manager to join their Watford office and lead the successful delivery of mechanical building services packages across multiple projects. 

The Role

Reporting to the Projects Director, you will take ownership of mechanical services from design and procurement through to installation, commissioning and handover. Working closely with clients, consultants and subcontractors, you will ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the required quality standards. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the delivery of mechanical building services packages including HVAC, ventilation, heating, cooling, pipework and public health systems. 
  • Coordinate design, procurement, installation and commissioning activities throughout the project lifecycle. 
  • Lead mechanical subcontractors and specialist suppliers, ensuring quality, safety and programme compliance. 
  • Monitor project programmes, costs, variations and commercial performance. 
  • Conduct site inspections and ensure compliance with CDM regulations, health & safety requirements and company procedures. 
  • Oversee commissioning, handover documentation, O&M manuals and defect resolution. 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and project stakeholders.

About You

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Project Manager, Mechanical Contracts Manager, Building Services Manager or similar.
  • Strong background delivering mechanical packages on construction projects.
  • Excellent knowledge of HVAC and mechanical building services installations.
  • Commercially aware with experience managing programmes, subcontractors and project budgets.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services would be advantageous.
  • Chartered status or relevant professional accreditation is desirable.
