Experienced Mechanical Supervisor with a strong foundation in commercial pipefitting to oversee mechanical upgrades strictly within a live hotel plant room.
This role is specifically centred around like-for-like hotel boiler replacements and plant room modernisations. This is not a domestic plumbing role; it requires a high-level commercial pipefitting supervisor who understands the complexities of maintaining service continuity in high-occupancy hospitality environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Hotel Plant Room Upgrade: Supervise and install like-for-like boiler replacements and new pump sets within operational hotel plant room.
- System Modifications: Oversee complex pipework modifications, ensuring correct implementation of reverse return layouts to maintain balanced water flow across multiple boiler units.
- Valves & Controls: Manage the configuration of heavy-duty commercial valving (isolation valves, non-return/check valves, PRVs, and zone control valves).
- BMS & Commissioning: Coordinate with BMS upgrades, utilize PT ports (test/balancing nipples) for pressure/flow diagnostics, and oversee full system commissioning to safely bring new boilers online.
- Site Supervision: Act as the competent onsite supervisor, managing health and safety, coordinating sub-contractors, and liaising with hotel management to minimise guest disruption.
Required Criteria
- Qualifications: Valid SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme) is essential.
- Background: Proven, extensive background in commercial pipefitting and industrial plumbing.
- Plant Room Expertise: Direct experience managing like-for-like boiler replacements in commercial plant rooms (ideally hotels, hospitals, or large student accommodation blocks).
- Technical Knowledge: Flawless understanding of hydronic flow principles, direct vs. reverse returns, secondary pump sets, and control valve
