The Opportunity
We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established M&E contractor with an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality education, commercial and public sector projects across the South East.
Due to the commencement of a major new-build development, they are looking to appoint an experienced Mechanical Supervisor to oversee the mechanical installation on a new-build school project in Rayleigh, Essex.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing contractor with a strong pipeline of secured work and the chance to deliver the project from installation through to completion.
The Role
Reporting to the Mechanical Project Manager, you will be responsible for supervising the day-to-day delivery of the full mechanical package, ensuring works are completed safely, on programme, and to the highest quality standards.
You will manage mechanical subcontractors and direct labour while coordinating with the wider project team to ensure successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise all mechanical installation activities on site
- Oversee the delivery of HVAC, pipework, plant rooms, domestic water services and above-ground drainage installations
- Manage mechanical subcontractors and direct labour
- Ensure works are completed safely, on programme and to specification
- Carry out quality inspections and manage snagging works
- Coordinate labour, materials and plant requirements
- Review mechanical drawings and technical information
- Attend site progress and coordination meetings
- Liaise with the client, consultants and other trades
- Maintain accurate site records and daily progress reports
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety procedures, RAMS and site standards
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Supervisor within the Building Services or M&E sector
- Minimum NVQ Level 3 or equivalent Mechanical qualification (City & Guilds or Apprenticeship)
- Experience delivering new-build education, commercial or public sector projects
- Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, pipework and mechanical building services installations
- SSSTS or SMSTS certification
- Valid CSCS Skill Card
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and construction programmes
