Job Purpose
To support the execution and quality assurance of compressor package projects, a Local Packager Systems Engineer is required to provide on-site support at approved packager locations as an extension of the Systems Engineering team. The role acts as interface between the packager and the Systems Engineer, ensuring alignment in inspections, technical clarifications, manufacturing progress and documentation, while contributing to timely delivery and compliance with project requirements.
Responsibilities
Carrying out the control work for inspections & punch item follow-up until closing in alignment with the Systems Engineering team, including:
• Quality gates
• Final Inspections
• FAT's
• Leakage tests
• Punch list item follow-up until close out including documentation and data management
• SPIR list quality checks
Technical support in alignment with the Systems Engineer, including:
• Acting as the interface between the Packager and the Systems Engineer with regard to technical clarifications related to sub-systems and package assembly
• Participating in weekly meetings with packager to support project problem solving
• Continuous monitoring of the manufacturing and assembly process with corresponding reporting to Systems Engineer
• Conducting the virtual tour documentation of the completed compressor package
• Supporting and advising the packager by filling Ex item list
• Supporting and advising the packager by filling the instrument / equipment lists and mechanical completion lists
• Supporting the Systems Engineer related to claim management towards packager
• Supporting the Systems Engineering by evaluating and building up new packagers
Expediting support in alignment with Systems Engineer, including
• Supporting Systems Engineer in expediting suppliers (procurement chain, critical components, mitigating possible obstacles, proposing solutions)
• Supporting Systems Engineer in expediting of documents related to packager scope, equipment and manufacturing
• Perform tasks in a way aimed at achieving the highest possible work efficiency

The role will be permanently based at the approved packager facility in Hereford, UK. The role will also require support to be provided at the approved packager facility in the Netherlands, according to business requirements. During the initial training phase, a period of work at the approved packager facility in Poland will also be required, as well as ongoing regular travel to Zurich, Switzerland.
Approx. 20% travel is expected as part of the role.
Experience
• Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum 5 years work experience in relevant field (systems engineering, mechanical engineering, instrumentation engineering)
• Strong coordination and interface management skills, with the ability to effectively align packager and internal stakeholders
• High level of quality awareness and structured approach to inspections, testing, and punch item management
• Familiarity with hazardous area requirements and standards (e.g. ATEX, IECEx) and their application within package design and execution
• Solid technical understanding of compressor packages, sub-systems (Lube Oil System, Seal Gas System), and manufacturing/assembly processes
• Ability to monitor progress, identify issues early, and provide practical solutions in a project environment
• Good communication and reporting skills, with the ability to clearly document and convey technical topics
• Experience in working with international suppliers and cross-functional teams
• Basic understanding of expediting processes and supply chain dependencies
• Structured and detail-oriented approach to documentation and data management
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to support claim handling and continuous improvement of packagers
• Fluency in English and excellent communication skills
• Detailed understanding of business, both technical and commercial
• Relevant experience in project management and supplier management
• Very good IT skills (MS Office suite, SAP)
• Full UK driving licence
