Role Purpose:

Chess Dynamics is an established Leading Design & Manufacturing business, with several sites across the UK. Key Responsibilities:

  • Prototype and production assembly of machines to Engineering drawings and procedures.
  • Ensuring all modifications during the build process are documented & Change request forms completed.
  • Liaise with production control when kits are incomplete.
  • Modifications to existing parts using hand tools and basic machine tools such as drills, lathes and mills.
  • Manufacture of simple brackets, mounting plates and simple tooling.
  • Checking that all work meets quality and technical standards.
  • Effective communications with engineering team to resolve issues during the build.
  • Ensure Health and Safety Regulations and related guidelines are followed at all times.
  • Ensure that all procedures are followed as specified in the Quality Manual.
  • Ensure that all documentation related to your work is kept accurate and up to date in accordance with specified standards.
  • Assist in maintaining the office and workshop in a clean and orderly state and ensure good project housekeeping/6S standards.
  • Adhere to the company's procedures, policies, and goals.
  • Ensure that health & safety regulations and guidelines are followed at all times.
  • Ensure that all equipment is properly maintained.
  • Conduct evaluations of equipment if needed.
  • Provide technical assistance to mechanical fitters where required.
     

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Be computer literate with good working knowledge of MS office.
  • Have experience of working in a Workshop environment.
  • Level 3 qualification in mechanical engineering or manufacturing.
  • 3 years previous experience in a similar position, ideally within a MoD workshop environment.
  • Ability to use manual machine tools and hand tools is essential.
  • Experience using manual lathes and mills is desirable.
  • Ability to read and interrogate complex technical drawings

Security Clearance Requirements:

Due to the nature of our business, our staff need to be able to obtain UK Security Clearance as a mandated requirement. Therefore, if successful, you will need to provide proof of identity, employment history and right to work in the UK, along with proof of UK residency for at least five years.
