Mechanically biased Maintenance Team Leader

Join a well-established manufacturing business as the Mechanical Maintenance Team Leader, leading a small engineering team while remaining hands-on with maintenance, fault finding and continuous improvement activities. This is an excellent opportunity for a maintenance engineer ready to step into leadership, or an experienced team leader looking for a stable days-based role with no weekend working.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, motivate and support a small team of one electrically biased and one newly qualified engineer.

Manage and develop the Preventative Planned Maintenance (PPM) programme.

Prioritise maintenance activities and coordinate engineering resources.

Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment performance.

Support production teams with engineering solutions.

Maintain compliance, documentation and safety standards.

Assist with contractor management and site improvement projects.

Requirements

Essential

  • Apprentice trained Maintenance Engineer (or equivalent qualification).
  • Strong mechanical maintenance background within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Experience working with conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Ability to diagnose faults and resolve mechanical failures using a logical and structured approach.
  • Hands-on experience carrying out repairs, disassembly, alignment, rebuilding and reassembly of mechanical equipment.
  • Computer literate with the ability to use maintenance management systems and maintenance records.
  • Positive attitude with a commitment to safety, reliability and continuous improvement.

Desirable

  • Multi-skilled with electrical maintenance experience.
  • Knowledge of Lean, Kaizen or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience maintaining filling, blending and packaging machinery.
