MEICA Commissioning Engineer – Water Industry
The Role:
GRS are recruiting for a MEICA Commissioning Engineer to join a Tier 1 contractor delivering a major water infrastructure project.
This is a key site-based role taking responsibility for the commissioning of Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation systems, ensuring new and upgraded assets are successfully tested, integrated and brought into operation.
The successful candidate will need a strong all-round understanding of MEICA systems and previous commissioning experience within the UK water industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate MEICA commissioning activities across the project.
- Develop, review and work to commissioning plans, procedures and programmes.
- Coordinate the testing and commissioning of mechanical, electrical and ICA equipment.
- Oversee functional testing, I/O testing, loop checks, FAT/SAT activities and system integration.
- Work with pumps, valves, MCCs, LV equipment, instrumentation, PLCs, SCADA, telemetry and associated control systems.
- Coordinate specialist suppliers, subcontractors and commissioning personnel.
- Troubleshoot technical and commissioning issues through to resolution.
- Liaise closely with project engineers, site teams, designers, suppliers and client operations teams.
- Ensure commissioning activities are completed safely and in accordance with project and water-industry standards.
- Manage commissioning records, test sheets, snagging and handover documentation.
- Support successful takeover and handover of completed assets into operation.
Ideally you'll have:
- Previous MEICA Commissioning experience within the UK water industry.
- Strong multidisciplinary knowledge across Mechanical, Electrical and ICA systems.
- Experience commissioning water or wastewater treatment assets.
- Good understanding of PLC, SCADA, instrumentation and control systems.
- Experience with FAT, SAT, functional testing and commissioning documentation.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to coordinate multiple subcontractors, suppliers and technical disciplines.
- EUSR Water Hygiene Card – required.
- Relevant CSCS/ECS and site safety qualifications would be advantageous.
