A specialist school in Oxford are seeking a Mental Health Teaching Assistant to join their team and play a key role in supporting students with social and emotional needs. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain real-world experience in a trauma-informed school.
This specialist setting caters for children and teenagers with a range of mental health needs, including trauma, PTSD, depression and attachment needs, as well as other Special Educational Needs, such as Autism and ADHD.
As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Support pupils with their learning, as well as their emotional needs.
- Help students build resilience, emotional regulation, and social skills in a safe and structured environment.
- Help manage challenging and anti-social behaviours by building meaningful relationship.
- Gain an in-depth understanding of trauma-informed practices, attachment theory, and behaviour as a form of communication.
- Collaborating with Teachers, Therapists and other support staff.
This role is perfect for someone with a genuine interest in child development, mental health, and inclusive education. Whether you're a recent graduate or looking to expand your experience before further training, this position will provide a strong foundation for careers in educational psychology, therapy, SEN teaching and youth work.
