TeacherActive is proud to be working with a welcoming 2-form entry primary school in Greenwich that is looking to appoint an experienced Primary School Mental Health Mentor to join their dedicated SEND team.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work within the school's SEND provision, supporting pupils with additional needs while taking ownership of key responsibilities that help create a safe, nurturing and structured environment where every child can succeed.

The Role

As the school's Mental Health Mentor, you will:

  • Provide daily emotional, behavioural and wellbeing support to pupils within the SEND provision.

  • Build positive and trusting relationships with children who may have SEMH, SEND or additional learning needs.

  • Develop and implement strategies to support pupils' emotional regulation and engagement.

  • Work closely with the SENDCo, teachers, parents and external professionals.

  • Oversee key responsibilities within the provision, ensuring interventions and support plans are delivered effectively.

  • Promote positive behaviour and encourage confidence, independence and resilience.

  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to reviews, meetings and safeguarding procedures.

We Are Looking For Someone Who:
  • Has previous experience working with children with SEND and/or SEMH needs.

  • Has experience supporting children's mental health and emotional wellbeing within an educational setting.

  • Is confident managing challenging behaviour using positive, trauma-informed approaches.

  • Can work proactively, independently and as part of a wider school team.

  • Has excellent communication and organisational skills.

  • Is passionate about making a genuine difference to young people's lives.

Essential Requirements
  • ✅ Previous experience working with SEND and/or SEMH pupils.

  • ✅ Experience supporting children's mental health in a school or similar setting.

  • ✅ Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).

  • ✅ Right to work in the UK.

  • ✅ Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
