People Group Limited

๐Ÿ“ Amsterdam, Netherlands
๐Ÿ’ผ Full-Time | Contract | Project running through to March 2027
๐Ÿข Data Centre / Mission-Critical Project

A leading specialist commissioning consultancy is looking to appoint an experienced MEP Commissioning Manager to support the delivery of a major data centre project in Amsterdam.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced commissioning professional to join a technically complex, mission-critical project and take ownership of the commissioning process through to successful completion and handover.

The project is scheduled to run through to March 2027, offering a substantial project assignment within the data centre sector.

Previous data centre experience is highly desirable, although candidates with strong commissioning management experience across other technically complex environments, including commercial, healthcare, pharmaceutical, industrial or manufacturing projects, will also be considered.

The key requirement is strong MEP commissioning management experience and the ability to take ownership of the Cx process from inception through construction, testing, integrated systems testing and final handover.

The Role

As an MEP Commissioning Manager, you will manage and drive the commissioning process throughout the project lifecycle, working closely with the client, consultants, principal contractor, MEP contractors, specialist vendors and FM teams.

This is a management-focused commissioning role, rather than a witnessing-only position. You will ensure commissioning is properly planned, coordinated, executed and documented in accordance with project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the MEP commissioning process from inception through to completion and final handover.

  • Develop and maintain the overall commissioning strategy, programme and project deliverables.

  • Develop commissioning procedures, testing plans, schedules and associated documentation.

  • Provide strategic and tactical commissioning support to the client and wider project team.

  • Coordinate MEP contractors, subcontractors, consultants, specialist vendors and client representatives.

  • Work closely with FM teams to ensure systems are prepared for operational handover.

  • Review QA/QC and commissioning documentation, providing technical input where required.

  • Review commissioning procedures, RAMS and method statements prior to commissioning activities.

  • Ensure plant and systems are installed, inspected, tested and commissioned in accordance with project requirements.

  • Lead and coordinate Level 3โ€“5 testing and commissioning activities.

  • Manage functional performance testing and Integrated Systems Testing (IST) across critical systems.

  • Coordinate testing of mechanical, electrical, controls, life-safety and other critical infrastructure systems.

  • Author, review and manage functional test scripts, commissioning checklists and test documentation.

  • Manage commissioning meetings, lookaheads, progress reviews and stakeholder coordination.

  • Coordinate testing and witnessing activities between contractors, vendors, consultants and the client.

  • Identify commissioning defects, risks, constraints and outstanding actions and drive them through to resolution.

  • Review commissioning data against design parameters and implement mitigation or recovery plans where required.

  • Monitor commissioning progress and provide clear reporting on programme, risks, issues and upcoming activities.

  • Manage commissioning closeout, handover documentation, training and final system sign-offs.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Commissioning Manager, MEP Commissioning Manager or Commissioning Engineer within the building services or construction sector.

  • Strong experience managing the full commissioning lifecycle, rather than solely acting as a witnessing agent.

  • Strong technical understanding of MEP and building services systems.

  • Previous data centre or mission-critical experience is highly desirable.

  • Experience delivering technically complex projects such as data centres, commercial, healthcare, pharmaceutical, industrial or manufacturing facilities.

  • Good understanding of commissioning, testing, QA/QC, documentation and project handover processes.

  • Experience coordinating contractors, subcontractors, specialist vendors and multiple project stakeholders.

  • Experience with L3โ€“L5 commissioning and Integrated Systems Testing.

  • Strong planning, programming, reporting, communication and IT skills.

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, manage competing priorities and operate within a fast-paced project environment.
