JOB PURPOSE

As an MEP Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial management of mechanical and electrical projects from pre or post construction through to final account.

Working closely with Project Managers, Contracts Managers, engineers, subcontractors and clients, you will ensure projects are delivered commercially successfully, within budget and in accordance with contractual requirements.

The role would suit a Quantity Surveyor with 3 – 15 years MEP / building services experience, who is comfortable managing commercial and industrial projects and taking ownership of project costs, valuations, variations and final accounts.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

Manage the commercial aspects of MEP projects valued between £500k and £5m.

Prepare and manage project budgets, cost plans and forecasts.

Review and negotiate subcontractor and supplier quotations.

Prepare valuations, applications for payment and payment assessments.

Manage variations, change control and compensation events.

Monitor project costs, expenditure and financial performance.

Produce accurate monthly cost/value reports and forecasts.

Manage subcontractor accounts, including applications, payments and final accounts.

Prepare and agree final accounts with clients and subcontractors.

Identify commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.

Review contracts and ensure commercial obligations are understood and managed.  Work closely with project delivery teams to maintain commercial control.

Support procurement and tendering activities.

Maintain accurate commercial records and project documentation.

Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.  Assist with resolving commercial and contractual issues.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE 

The successful candidate will ideally have:

Previous experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within MEP / Mechanical & Electrical building services.

Experience managing commercial or industrial projects.

Experience working on projects valued between £500k and £5m.

Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical construction and building services.

Experience with valuations, variations, cost reporting and final accounts.

Strong subcontractor and supplier management experience.

Good understanding of construction contracts and commercial procedures.

Excellent numerical, analytical and negotiation skills.

Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.

The confidence to work independently and take ownership of commercial responsibilities.

Relevant qualifications such as BSc/HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction or a related discipline are desirable.

SALARY & BENEFITS

£45k - £75k (DOE)
