MET Technician vacancy in Swindon, Wiltshire!

Our client, a leading nationwide automotive accident repair group with over 30 sites, is seeking to appoint a MET Technician at their Swindon facility. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced automotive technicians looking to specialise in vehicle body repair or those with relevant qualifications to take the next step in their career.

  • Negotiable salary based on experience, with a performance-related bonus offering earnings up to £52,000 per annum
  • 42.5-hour week, working 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday, with a 30-minute lunch break

Duties of the MET Technician:
  • Removal of damaged vehicle parts to facilitate repairs
  • Correct and secure storage of displaced parts for refitting
  • Inspection for additional damage and requisition of necessary parts from Vehicle Damage Assessor
  • Verification of parts accuracy and completeness to ensure smooth vehicle repair progress
  • Refit of vehicle panels post-repair, maintaining manufacturer tolerances and avoiding damage
  • Replacement of mechanical components such as steering, drivetrain, and engine parts as required
  • Resetting Vehicle Control Units using diagnostic equipment
  • Following all health and safety legislation and company procedures
  • Attending regular safety training sessions
  • Maintenance of tools, equipment, and materials
  • Performing additional activities as directed
Requirements of the MET Technician:
  • Recognised qualification in automotive MET/vehicle body repair or working towards an ATA/IMI qualification
  • Proven experience in a similar MET/Strip fit role
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet strict deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks
  • Confident working independently and within a team
  • A valid UK driving licence with minimal points
