We are currently recruiting for an experienced Metal Polisher / Linisher to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing company based in Solihull. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous metal finishing experience who takes pride in producing high-quality work within a busy fabrication environment.
Hours of Work
- Monday to Thursday: 7:00am - 3:30pm
- Friday: 7:00am - 1:00pm
- Early finish every Friday
- Full-time hours
As a Metal Polisher / Linisher, you will be responsible for preparing, finishing and polishing fabricated metal components to a high cosmetic standard. You will work with a variety of metals, ensuring finished products meet customer specifications and quality requirements. The successful candidate will also be required to safely operate a Counterbalance Forklift Truck to move materials and finished products around the workshop.
Duties Include
- Linishing and polishing fabricated metal components
- Removing weld marks, scratches and surface imperfections
- Achieving brushed, satin and mirror finishes where required
- Polishing aluminium, stainless steel, mild steel and other metals
- Grinding, fettling and deburring components
- Using belt linishers, polishing machines, angle grinders and other finishing equipment
- Loading, unloading and moving materials using a Counterbalance Forklift Truck
- Transporting finished products safely within the workshop
- Inspecting finished products to ensure they meet quality standards
- Working from engineering drawings and job specifications where required
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment
- Following company health and safety procedures at all times
- Previous experience as a Metal Polisher, Linisher, Metal Finisher or Fettler
- Experience working with stainless steel, aluminium and other fabricated metals
- A valid Counterbalance Forklift Truck licence is essential
- Previous experience operating a Counterbalance Forklift in a manufacturing or engineering environment
- Competent using hand tools, power tools and polishing equipment
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality finishes
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Reliable, punctual and able to work to production deadlines
- £13.00 - £14.00 per hour depending on experience
