Metal Recycling Operative

We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for a Metal Recycling Operative to join their growing production team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a long-term career within a modern and forward-thinking metal recycling business.

Previous experience within the metals industry is advantageous but not essential. We also welcome applications from candidates with backgrounds in manufacturing, engineering, production, recycling, heavy industry, or similar industrial environments who are looking to build their skills and progress their career.

The Role

As a Metal Recycling Operative, you will play a key role in processing and preparing metal materials to meet production requirements while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate a range of industrial processing equipment to size, prepare, and process incoming metal materials.
  • Carry out mechanical processing activities including cutting, shearing, shredding, blasting, and plasma cutting.
  • Set up, operate, and monitor machinery safely and efficiently.
  • Ensure processed materials meet quality specifications and production standards.
  • Record daily production throughput using internal systems.
  • Carry out routine equipment checks and report any faults or maintenance requirements promptly.
  • Follow all company health, safety, and environmental procedures at all times.
  • Work collaboratively within the production team, reporting directly to the Production Manager.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Previous experience operating industrial machinery or processing equipment.
  • Experience within the metals, recycling, manufacturing, engineering, or heavy industrial sectors (preferred but not essential).
  • A strong understanding of health and safety practices within an industrial environment.
  • Good organisational skills and basic IT competency.
  • The ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.
  • A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn.
