Role Overview
An excellent opportunity for an experienced, multi-skilled Welder Fabricator to join a busy engineering and fabrication business in Oldham. The work is varied: large projects can be predominantly TIG one month and predominantly MIG the next. The business is looking for an all-round engineer rather than a single-process welder. You will be a problem solver who can fabricate, weld and finish components to engineering drawings, with a strong focus on quality, accuracy and safe working practices.
Salary
£20.00 per hour (approx. £37,960 per year basic, plus overtime)
Working Hours
- Monday–Thursday: 7:00am–3:00pm
- Friday: 7:00am–12:30pm
- 36.5 hours per week
- Overtime available at 1.5x
- Sunday overtime at 2x

Key Requirements
- Proven experience as a Welder Fabricator within fabrication, engineering or heavy manufacturing
- Strong TIG welding skills, ideally on stainless steel and aluminium
- Strong MIG welding skills, including multi-run welds
- Experience of, or willingness to develop, root run MIG welding to full penetration
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Fabrication skills: marking out, preparation, measuring, grinding, drilling and finishing
- Experience with press brakes or other fabrication machinery would be advantageous
- Ability to safely use fabrication and lifting equipment where trained
- Practical, problem-solving approach and the flexibility to turn your hand to a variety of tasks
- Reliable, proactive and able to work effectively as part of a team
Main Duties
- TIG and MIG welding of fabricated components across a range of materials
- Fabricating, aligning and tack-welding components to drawings and specifications
- Setting up and safely operating welding and fabrication equipment
- Carrying out preparation, grinding, drilling, polishing and finishing work
- Measuring and checking components to ensure they meet required specifications
- Maintaining high standards of quality, safety and housekeeping
