We're recruiting on behalf of our client for a passionate and dedicated Missing Child Return Officer to help safeguard vulnerable children and young people across Wolverhampton.

This is an incredibly rewarding opportunity for someone with experience working with young people and families who is committed to protecting those at risk of exploitation, harm, and missing episodes. You'll join a multi-agency team focused on improving outcomes and helping young people stay safe.



The Role

As a Missing Child Return Officer, you'll play a vital role in delivering a coordinated response to children and young people who go missing. Through direct engagement, risk assessments, and partnership working, you'll help identify vulnerabilities, reduce risk, and ensure the right support is in place.



Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct Missing Return Interviews with young people in line with statutory guidance.
  • Complete exploitation screening and risk assessment tools to identify safeguarding concerns.
  • Provide specialist advice and guidance to professionals working with vulnerable children and young people.
  • Work closely with partner agencies to monitor, assess, and support young people at risk.
  • Identify and assess risks linked to:
    • Child Exploitation
    • Criminal Exploitation
    • Gangs and Youth Violence
    • Educational Disengagement
    • Repeat Missing Episodes
  • Participate in daily briefings and multi-agency exploitation hub meetings.
  • Review overnight incidents and contribute to safeguarding plans.
  • Analyse emerging trends and provide performance and case information to senior management.
  • Support the development of effective intervention strategies that improve outcomes for young people.


About You

We're looking for someone who is confident, compassionate, and committed to protecting vulnerable young people.



Essential Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant field, such as:
    • Health & Social Care
    • Community Development
    • Youth Work
    • Children's Services


Experience & Knowledge

  • Previous experience working directly with children, young people, and families.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child exploitation issues.
  • Experience assessing risk and supporting vulnerable individuals.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with young people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience working effectively within multi-agency environments.
  • Knowledge of community-based approaches and needs assessment processes.


Desirable

  • Previous experience undertaking Missing Return Interviews or advising on missing children cases.
  • Experience within exploitation, safeguarding, youth justice, or targeted youth support services.
