Job Title: Plant fitter
Location: Kettering 
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm (40hrs) 

Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 

You’ll be responsible for the maintenance, servicing, fault-finding and repair of plant machinery and industrial equipment, including crushers and screens. You’ll work both in the workshop and on customer sites, helping to keep equipment safe, reliable and operational.
 Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out servicing, maintenance, inspections and repairs on plant and machinery.
  • Diagnose faults and provide effective solutions to minimise downtime.
  • Work on a range of equipment including crushers, screens and construction plant.
  • Attend customer sites and provide proactive maintenance and technical support.
  • Complete pre-hire inspections, PDIs and equipment preparation.
  • Identify defects, wear and potential issues before they become major problems.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, operators and site management.
  • Advise operators on correct equipment use and ways to reduce damage and wear.
  • Complete risk assessments and method statements where required.
  • Maintain high standards of Health & Safety at all times.
  • Use tools and diagnostic equipment correctly and in line with PUWER requirements.
  • Carry out welding, cutting, fabrication and repairs to bespoke equipment where required.
  • Support the workshop team and contribute to improving maintenance processes.
  • Complete in-house training when required.
  • Work independently and use your own initiative to resolve problems.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties requested by the Branch Manager.
What We're Looking For
  • Strong knowledge and experience of plant machinery and equipment.
  • Experience in plant, vehicle or heavy machinery maintenance.
  • Ability to fault-find and diagnose mechanical issues.
  • Welding and cutting experience.
  • Ability to work confidently both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong commitment to Health & Safety.
  • City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent in Plant/Vehicle Maintenance is desirable.
  • Formal apprenticeship training is desirable.
  • Comfortable using computer systems and in-house software.
